If you are from Bangkok City, you need to allocate 4 hours travel time. It is much better to rent a car/van because Erawan National Park is quite far from highways. A group tour might be essential for a cheap travel experience, indeed, it is true.
Erawan Waterfall has not been new to travel blogs and internet’s featured nature adventures. In fact, it is considered as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. It is located in the Tenasserim Hills in Kanchanaburi Province, some 200 km northwest of Bangkok. It is mostly visited by tourist during summers where visitors could experience two activities simultaneously; trekking and swimming . Entrance for foreigner is 300 baht and they will also charge you for the parking area if you have a rented car.
Erawan has 7 levels which demands strength and endurance for you to visit each tier. Asides from waterfalls, the park also covered with limestone caves which are open for exploration and for those who are interested in an extra-educational adventure. The park provides various opportunities for visitors to extremely soak themselves with mother nature.
You can reach the seven tiers through walking along the green rainforest. The trail doesn’t contributes much difficulty because unlike others, the pathways and stairs are cemented. While trekking, you could hear birds and other animals making sounds which impressed the feeling of being lost yet excited in a deep forest. Once you come nearer to the falls itself, you could hear the water dripping down the huge limestone. The entire length of the seven tiers span approximately 1,500 m through the thick rainforest of the park.
It is a human nature especially for those who are into adventure in many places to greet those people they meet in a certain place. So, remember to smile. Smiling contributes to great memories. It adds a great quality in your happiness plus the nature.
You could see variety of trees, plants and vines along the way.
In order to get to the first waterfall ” Hlai Keun Lung “, is relatively easy, as you can get there on a flat trail, directly from the visitor centre’s car park.
A great number of fish can be seen swimming in the naturally made pond structured by the smooth limestone sculpted by the water.
The trail gets steeper as you reach the next level, Wung Macha. Many visitors spends mostly their time there as it offers a nice blue-water-view and a huge area for swimming. It’s very scenic as there’s a small cave under the falls.
Pha Nam Tok is the third tier which is taller than the first two falls. It offers a large pond which is filled with fish. You could refresh yourself after the long walk.
Heading to the vantage point! It is a place where you could see the marvelous plains and mountains near the area. A place for a relaxation and resting.
Oke Nank Phee Seah and Bua Mai Long are the fourth and fifth steps of Erawan Waterfall. They have these small ponds where fish could swim freely on your feet. It is a great avenue for a therapeutic treatment from a dearly fish. You cannot tolerate at first, but once you indulge yourself to it…you will feel the relief from the lovely small bites of the fish. Washing and eating your dead skins.
The limestone and other rock formations just create an awesome habitat for all kinds of animals living in a fresh body of water.
The trail gets rougher as you ascend to these levels especially the 6th and 7th tier, Dong Prook Sa and Phu Pha respectively.
